After 9 years at Lockheed Martin, Kirk joined Geneva Aerospace (now L-3 Unmanned Systems) as a Systems/Guidance, Navigation and Controls Engineer. With Geneva and L-3, Kirk led multiple engineering teams as they developed flight control software and digital simulations for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
In December 2010, Kirk decided to start his own company, Kerrk Enterprises, Inc., to provide efficient, effective aerospace engineering and education services. Since starting Kerrk Enterprises in 2010, Kirk has primarily worked on 2 projects: 1) Hardware Co-Simulation (i.e. Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL)) using Matlab/Simulink and three FPGAs simultaneously, and 2) Geo-location using only Frequency-of-Arrival (i.e Doppler) measurements.
