ON-BOARD PRECISION AUTOMATED LANDING SYSTEM (OPALS)

Kirk Singleton was a key developer of the On-board Precision Automated Landing System (O-PALS) for L-3 Communications. He developed the sensor model and refined the Guidance, Navigation and Control algorithms for the auto-landing system.
MODELING & SIMULATION (M&S)

Kirk Singleton aided in the development and refinement of the L-3 Unmanned Systems 6-DOF simulation. Similarly, at Lockheed Martin, he was a key developer of multiple 6-DOF simulations in FORTRAN, C/C++ and Matlab/Simulink.


VERIFICATION & VALIDATION (V&V)

Kirk Singleton has been involved in multiple V&V processes. Typically, the main goal is to verify that the system is meeting its requirements and that the flight test data validates the simulation.


FLIGHT TESTING

Kirk Singleton has been involved in multiple flight test programs including flight tests of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and missile systems. Kirk was involved in the planning (preflight analysis), execution and post-flight analysis activities.




SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

Kerrk Enterprises fully believes in the importance of good systems engineering practices. The requirements must be thoroughly defined and documented and the customer and designers must have buy-in. These should be the goals of effective systems engineering. Kirk Singleton participated in the systems engineering processes at L-3 Communications and at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.
